08.tv-1.jpg Screenshots of Rufus K. (of Rotterdam design group De Humobisten) wearing an 'Anti' shirt. We can't remember anymore who sent these pictures to us, probably Femke Dekker. Rufus is actually quite a good friend. What's nice about De Humobisten is that they often mention the Provo movement as one of their influences, which happens to be also one of our main influences. (Provo was a Dutch anarchist movement that existed between 1965 and 1967. Part political party, part conceptual art movement, Provo shook the foundations of Dutch society, and the influence of Provo is still noticeable in every aspect of Dutch culture. Provo influenced us in many ways: on a political level, on an artistic level, but also on a very personal level: Rob Stolk, the father of Marieke, was one of the founders of Provo). By the way, Rufus also plays drums in freakjazz outfit De Vogels; be sure to check them out when they cross your town. |
